Vote for Coach Nevin Griffith for Hillsborough County School Board

Nevin Griffith isn't just a candidate for School Board; he is a product of Hillsborough County schools and a lifelong advocate for the power of education. The son of two retired Hillsborough County educators, Nevin learned from an early age that investing in our children is the most important investment we can make.

His deep roots in our community are matched by an exceptional record of achievement. A graduate of Middleton High School’s prestigious Aerospace Magnet Program, Nevin excelled academically, earning a 4.7 GPA. His dedication in the classroom and on the baseball field earned him a full-ride academic and athletic scholarship to Florida International University, followed by a 2nd round selection by the Chicago White Sox in the 2007 MLB Draft.

Even during his professional baseball career, Nevin remained committed to our local students, working as an after-school counselor in the H.O.S.T. program during the off-season. After his playing career, he returned to his passion for coaching and mentoring, serving as a pitching coach at Leto High School under Coach John Pizzio. During his tenure, the program saw tremendous success, winning the 2017 Hillsborough County Wood Bat Classic and becoming a state final four contender in 2018 and 2019.

A natural innovator, Nevin combined his love for baseball and technology to develop the Velo Pitch Speed App, a proprietary mobile application that was independently valued at $5 million. His sharp business acumen led him to found Team Velo, a successful real estate investment company that now manages a portfolio of over 20 property units, including low-income housing in partnership with the Tampa Housing Authority. Throughout this time, he continued his own education, earning an Associate's degree from Hillsborough Community College.

For over a decade, Nevin has been a dedicated community advocate, focusing on the success and well-being of Hillsborough's youth. He works closely with local nonprofits like the Tampa Terminators, an organization focused on ending illiteracy and incarceration among inner-city youth. Most recently, he adopted Oak Park Elementary, launching an in-school and after-school tutoring program he founded called Velo Academy.

Driven by the educator's values instilled by his parents and his own proven experience in business, technology, and mentorship, Nevin Griffith is uniquely qualified to serve on the School Board. He has managed multi-million dollar assets, coached our children to victory, and created real-world solutions for our community. Now, he wants to bring his innovative spirit and steadfast commitment to public service to ensure every student in Hillsborough County has the opportunity to succeed.
